Comparison between AdSense and Yahoo Publisher Network (YPN)
Have you heard about the Yahoo Publisher Network? When it came out it promised to rival AdSense, but so far it hasn't managed to land any major blows yet. Yahoo Publishing Network is still in its Beta stages, and for now only supports USA traffic which is considered light weight for the contextual network. However, there are a lot of publishers in the beta network, and the question posed by many is "Who is better, AdSense or Yahoo Publisher Network(YPN)?" Based on testers' experience, and that of many other publishers from what was gathered from the forums, the YPN edges over Adsense by paying much more per click. But on the other hand, the targetting is much worse. Which means the click through rate is generally far less than with AdSense. YPN may pay up to 5 time more per click, but with a 0.5% CTR that doesn't really pay off, does it? Of course, there are publishers who are just thrilled with YPN, simply because they happen to have sites on the topics that YPN actually has good ad inventory for. Unfortunately, as soon as YPN goes out of beta stages when everyone can be a publisher, the only direction which their EPC is going... is DOWN! Right now it's a seller's market, but when everybody can publisher, the market will swing more in favor of the buyers, the advertisers. So the best thing to do now, is to give YPN a try if you can get into the beta network, and test out your pages to see which ones work better for you. So for now, AdSense still remains the dominant champion, and YPN is still playing catch up. |
